Area specifiers to benefit from INSTALL's expertise
Experts from INSTALL Minnesota Floor Covering Professionals have been chosen to be a featured presenter at the Midwest Facilities Expo October 29-30, 2008. The annual event, held at the Minneapolis convention center, attracts construction specifiers, building owners and property managers from a host of industries. INSTALL Minnesota will present an educational forum on how to recognize and prevent moisture and alkalinity in flooring foundations.
INSTALL helps give back to injured soldier
INSTALL Minnesota floor covering professionals are helping to create a specially designed house for a Minnesota military veteran who sustained severe injuries while serving in Iraq. Sgt. Marcus Kuboy of New Hope, Minn. was injured in March 2007 when a humvee he was riding hit a roadside explosive. Kuboy badly injured his legs, back, arm, jaw and more. Today the soldier relies mostly on a wheel chair. INSTALL floor coverers are joining other union workers to build a handicapped-accessible home for Kuboy in Woodbury. The house is scheduled to be built in August.
Give the end user what they deserve: flooring installed properly
A happy customer is usually a repeat customer. Ensure that the floor covering component of your project is completed properly, on time, and on budget. Be sure to specify that your flooring contractor has the training, skills and experience to make the right decision, so that the floor does not fail. One way to ensure that is through detailed specification. Mandate that your flooring materials are installed by an INSTALL-trained or INSTALL-certified professional. That specification still keeps your project open to dozens of prospective, qualified contractors, while at the same time weeding out poorly trained, ill-qualified, less reputable or less-equipped outfits. Here is language that you can use for your next specification, to be inserted into the quality assurance area:
INSTALL certification is a requirement for journeymen floor coverers, and membership in a state-certified apprenticeship program is a requirement for floor coverers who have not yet become journeymen, to be eligible to install flooring on this job site.
Your colleagues are already specifying INSTALL as the mandated installer on construction and/or renovation projects in Minnesota. And, more building owners and facility managers are in the process of securing INSTALL flooring installers for their structures. We invite you to leverage this benefit, as well. Please specify INSTALL. Should you need more information about flooring issues or if you need exact specification language, please do not hesitate to contact Terry Nali, local INSTALL coordinator, at 651-636-0091, or email him at tnali@mncarpenter.org.
