INSTALL Minnesota Floorcovering Professionals benefit from steady stream of manufacturing partnership

To keep both journeymen and apprentices up to date with changing industry technologies, a steady stream of manufacturers have presented seminars to INSTALL Minnesota floor layers throughout Minnesota. Ardex, Lonseal and Shaw technical and education representatives have each partnered with the local floor covering installation training program in the last couple of months to share information about their company’s new offerings.

Ardex presented on its self-leveling and feather-edge products; Lonseal explained a new vinyl flooring that can be used on walls; and Shaw trained participants on new matching patterns and its Eco-works backing system. All sessions were held in the INSTALL Minnesota training center at 670 Olive Street, St. Paul. Additional programs were also offered at INSTALL training areas in Duluth and Rochester.

“We believe hearing about innovations directly from the manufacturers keeps our apprentices and journeyman up to date on industry advancements,” said Ruben Stewart, coordinator of the Minnesota floor covering training program. “And we benefit by materials that our partners donate as part of their visit, so that our members can continue to practice what they learned.”

The end result of these partnerships, Stewart added, is a well-trained pool of professional flooring installers who staff projects for INSTALL contractors.
