4/23/2010 -- INSTALL Minnesota hosted its partner, ARDEX, this week for a flooring substrate moisture control training seminar for the benefit of the Twin Cities construction industry. The ARDEX MC™ Moisture Control System, ARDEX MC™ PLUS, and ARDEX MC™ RAPID products were demonstrated in real-time, so that participants could witness how the product performs. All three ARDEX products reduce moisture from 98% RH to flooring manufacturing requirements overnight. In addition to the hands-on demonstration, ARDEX also provided a two-hour continuing education session about moisture in concrete, which allowed architects in attendance to collect two learning credits. The program addressed the many sources of moisture in concrete and reviewed the available methods for evaluating moisture emissions. It also examined how moisture affects concrete and flooring, how to prevent costly moisture-related floor covering failures, modes of water movement through concretes, and remediation options. Participants also learned how to correct placement of vapor barriers, and about curing times for concrete. Those who completed this training are now able to offer the ARDEX MC Moisture Control 10-year warranty to all clients. The 8-hour seminar was held at the INSTALL Minnesota Training Center in St. Paul.
